Some fun news..we were recently part of a music video shoot for the Untamed Science Video crew (think modern day Mr. Wizard or Bill Nye the Science Guy but for today’s generation)! A few months back the Untamed Science folks emailed me asking if I could write a 1 minute educational song about “matter” and a day later I wrote “What is Matter?”…a fun little song with a spanish style rhythm. They learned the song and re-recorded it with their vocals on top. A couple months later they were nice enough to invite us to be part of the music video that will soon be featured on the elementary Untamed Science DVD series! So here we are in the background playing our instruments while Haley is busting out the vocals. Check out the whole Untamed Science crew with Rob, Haley, Jonas, and more at www.untamedscience.com. You’ll definitely be seeing them as tv hosts on the Discovery Channel soon enough.

Something that I’ve come to enjoy in life is that inspiration for a song can come at any moment. Standing on the edge of Mont Blanc at 12,602 ft. peering out over the Swiss Alps was, to say the least, a breathtaking experience; oddly calming even though my nerves and heart were racing faster with each footstep. For a brief second I had a feeling of complete weightlessness, as if my body would just float up over the edge and touch the nearest cloud…it’s hard to describe…it’s so true that photographs just don’t do the experience justice. We’re back now in Boston after trekking around France for awhile visiting friends, eating, and of course playing music. Now that our 5-song ep is out we’re continuing work on a full length album…but after all these new experiences I feel like the project just got more complicated…in just 2 days I’ve written over 6 new songs and they are some of the best I’ve ever written..they just fell out of me as if they’d been hiding somewhere waiting to come out…again I’m searching for the right words but that’s why writing songs is so great..you don’t have to always find the right words but the right musical feeling and sometimes the words just follow. That’s all for now, we’re off to San Francisco in a couple days to find some more songs hiding away. Hopefully we’ll post some demo’s of the new songs here at some point..so check back soon. Love, -Walter

Hi everybody, pull up a pillow and snuggle because our debut 5-song EP is out and available in stores! We hope you like the little 5-song taste because we are hard at work in the studio working on the full length album hopefully available near the end of the year. Meanwhile, here is another clip from the lovely film “Shades of Ray” starring Zachary Levi (NBC, Chuck) and featuring the song “taking back December” from our debut ep.

Very cool news as of late..turns out two new songs I wrote, which haven’t even been released yet, made it into a movie soundtrack! The film is a romantic comedy called “Shades of Ray” starring Zachary Levi (Chuck, NBC), Brian George, Fran Kranz, and Sarah Shahi. It was written and directed by Jaffar Mahmood, an amazing talent. It was tough handing over the songs for the movie since they weren’t really ready to be put out there (i.e. they weren’t even mixed or mastered properly) but I had to jump at the opportunity. I was so psyched that I did because the movie is really really good, it has all the elements…you laugh..you cry…you sing..you dance. Here is the link to the movie site where you can scroll down and order the film from netflix or download it directly from itunes and/or amazon: http://www.shadesofray.com/ I still can’t believe my songs made the movies. Here is one clip from the film that features my song “Just when you least expect”:

So I just saw the movie FOOD inc. and it blew me away. I definitely recommend watching it, that is, if you aren’t in the camp of “ignorance is bliss”. So naturally the next day I went searching on the old interweb looking up local farmers markets in my area and I found the Union Square Farmers Market in Somerville, MA just a few blocks down the road from me. The managers of the market were nice enough to invite me to play some songs while people are shopping the local farm produce on Saturday July 25th from 9am-1pm. I can’t think of a cooler venue than outside at a farmer’s market on sunny day supporting locally homegrown organic food. Now I kind of like to think of my songs as homegrown organic songs composed bedside using some simple recording gear and with the sounds of traffic outside the window of my apartment supporting the melodies in the background. Maybe I’ll see some of you there.

Well..I’m in the homestretch with alot of my songs in the studio…But I still have a few vocals, violin arrangements and mixing to get done, not to mention mastering and all the promotion afterwards…whew! It’s good though..I think I’m writing this to motivate myself to finish it, so much traveling in the past few months has sidetracked my main goal..just finish the album and put it out there..maybe just maybe it will be something special, some of the songs give me goosebumps in my headphones, those are the ones I’ll keep.

Hello friends…excitement is in the air…I’ve begun working on a new album and so far things are going very smoothly, almost too smoothly in fact that I’m getting suspicious. But so far the energy is good and I’m slowly finding that living in Boston has its perks in terms of working with great musicians…wheareas normally you would think of all these great musicians living in New York/Los Angeles or some other major music capital but no, they are living in the most unexpected places, sometimes right next door to you. On bass I have the wunderkind Kimon Kirk (Session Americana) who lives a couple towns over from me, on drums I have the phenomenal John Sands (Aimee Mann) who actually lives down the street from me, on lap steel and other beautiful effects I have the incomparable Kevin Barry (Paula Cole, Mary Chapin Carpenter) living just a few towns over from me, and last but not least engineer extraordinaire Eric Kilburn (Wellspring Sound) with an incredible studio out in Acton, MA just a half hour drive away. I feel really lucky and honored to be working with such great musicians. I’ll be sure to post some pictures and videos of our progress in the coming weeks. Let the insanity begin:)
